Rental terms of Akko GmbH

Please note: Rental terms may vary depending on the vehicle, model and rental period. The terms in your rental agreement are binding. We are happy to advise you in our office – please read your rental agreement carefully at pick-up.

These terms apply together with the rental agreement and the supplementary agreement on service fees. By booking, you confirm that you have read and accepted them. In case of doubt, the German version applies.

1. Scope

These terms apply to all rental agreements for vehicles of Akko GmbH ("Akko") at the Berlin City (Kurfürstendamm) and BER Airport locations, whether booked online, by phone or on site.

2. Renter and drivers

The "Young driver" package costs 25 € per rental day. The minimum period of holding a driving licence cannot be reduced.

At pick-up, a valid driving licence, a valid ID card or passport and a payment card in the main driver's name must be presented.

3. Prices and payment

All prices are in euros including statutory VAT (19 %). You can pay online by card (via our payment provider Stripe) or at pick-up. Invoices are handed over at the office; if you need the invoice in a company name, please let us know at pick-up. Payment by debit card is possible after booking with Comfort Protection, provided the card is approved.

4. Deposit

The deposit is blocked or charged on the main driver's payment card at pick-up and refunded to the same card within 21 business days after proper return. Fines, tolls and processing fees from the rental period may be offset against the deposit.

5. Pick-up, return and opening hours

• BER Airport, Zeppelinstraße 1, 12529 Schönefeld-Waltersdorf (Lilienthal Plaza): daily 09:00–21:00, phone +49 177 7790924. A free shuttle connects the terminal with our office (approx. 5 minutes).

Pick-up or return outside opening hours is possible by prior arrangement for a fee of 100 €. If the car is returned outside opening hours without prior written agreement, a service fee of 100 € is also charged.

One-way rentals between BER Airport and Kurfürstendamm (in either direction) cost 50 €. Delivery to a hotel or address is possible within 7 km of the Kurfürstendamm office free of charge.

Early return: if the vehicle is returned earlier than agreed, the unused rental days are not refunded.

6. Mileage

The mileage rule applies to all vehicles. Each additional kilometre is charged at 0.85 € plus 19 % VAT.

7. Fuel

The same-to-same rule applies: the car must be returned with the same fuel level as at pick-up. If the level is lower, the missing fuel at the current market price plus a service fee of 50 € will be charged.

For an extra 30 € we offer full-to-full: we hand over the car with a full tank and you return it full. This way you start without a detour to the petrol station.

8. Protection packages and liability

* Prices for Economy-class vehicles. Different prices may apply to other vehicle classes. The exact scope of each package is shown during booking.

Without a protection package, the renter is liable in full for all damage to the vehicle, theft and consequential costs (e.g. loss of value, loss of use). In the event of an accident or damage, the vehicle is sent to an independent expert (Gutachter) and the renter pays the amount stated in the expert report plus an expert service fee of 150 €. If the amount is not paid, legal action will be taken.

The liability limitation of a protection package does not apply to damage caused intentionally; in the case of gross negligence it may be reduced in proportion to the severity of fault.

9. Driving abroad (cross-border)

For trips outside Germany the cross-border package is required for 15 € per rental day. The renter must inform the rental station of the planned trip abroad before departure and obtain its consent.

Allowed for all vehicles: Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Gibraltar, Great Britain, Ireland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, the Netherlands, Northern Italy, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.

Allowed except for vehicles of the brands Audi, BMW, Mercedes, VW, Land Rover and Jaguar: Croatia, Southern Italy, Vatican City, San Marino, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, the Czech Republic and Hungary.

Electric luxury vehicles ("Elite") cannot be rented for cross-border driving. Driving abroad without the cross-border package incurs a fee of 500 €. In this case all insurance benefits and protection packages lapse for damage outside Germany; the renter is fully liable for all damage and all costs of returning the vehicle to Germany.

10. No smoking

All vehicles are non-smoking vehicles. Smoking – including e-cigarettes, vapes and similar products – is prohibited in all rental vehicles. Smoke odour and residue significantly affect the following customers; in particular, customers with allergies or respiratory conditions cannot use such a vehicle.

After every return our vehicles are checked with a smoke detection device (Bosch Smoke Detector). If a violation is found, we charge a fee of 350 € for the necessary special cleaning with ozone treatment.

11. Pets and soiling

Pets may only be carried in a suitable transport box. If pet hair, pet odour, soiling or animal waste is found, a special cleaning fee of 335 € is charged.

The vehicle must be returned clean. In case of exceptional soiling (e.g. food leftovers, spilled drinks, sand, mud or heavy interior soiling) a cleaning and service fee of 150 € is charged.

12. Additional drivers

The vehicle may only be driven by the drivers named in the rental agreement. An additional driver can be booked for 6 € per rental day. If the vehicle is driven by an unregistered person, a service fee of 100 € plus 15 € per rental day is charged.

13. Traffic offences

The renter bears all fines, tolls and other official claims from the rental period. For processing each request or notice we charge a processing fee of 50 €, regardless of the amount. Akko is entitled to pass on the renter's details to the authorities.

14. Loss of documents and keys

For loss of or damage to the vehicle documents (e.g. registration certificate part I) a processing and replacement fee of 250 € is charged; additional official costs are borne by the renter.

For loss of or irreparable damage to the vehicle key, a service fee of 500 € plus all costs for a replacement key including programming by an authorised dealer are charged. Any towing, transport and ancillary costs are also borne by the renter.

15. Cancellation and changes

Bookings can be cancelled free of charge up to 48 hours before the agreed pick-up time. For later cancellations or if the vehicle is not collected (no-show), free cancellation is no longer possible and payments already made are not refunded.

Early return of the vehicle does not entitle the renter to a refund of unused rental days.

16. Final provisions

The law of the Federal Republic of Germany applies. If the renter is a merchant, the place of jurisdiction is Berlin. Should individual provisions be invalid, the validity of the remaining provisions remains unaffected.

We are neither willing nor obliged to participate in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.
